There are many different martial arts systems and styles. Each one has a place and a benefit.  There is no one style or system that is greater than the others.  The individual martial artist’s training, dedication, discipline, and commitment is what determines one’s success. The martial art of Tae Kwon Do, literally meaning “the art or method of kicking with the feet and punching with the fists”, originated more than 2000 years ago in Korea, yet it’s physical and spiritual content has never been so vigorously sought after and practiced as it is today by kids and adults alike. Some other styles are Karate, which originated from Japan and Kung Fu which originated from China. Tae Kwon Do is nonviolent.  It is an educational system devoted to train both mind and body in which great emphasis is placed on the development of the trainee’s moral character – the builder of modesty, courtesy, integrity, self-control, perseverance, and indomitable spirit. On the physical side, Tae Kwon Do provides for an energetic healthy workout, improving your condition as well as flexibility and agility. Tae Kwon Do uses the hands and feet in a multitude of punching and dynamic kicking techniques.  In addition, the spiritual aspect of Tae Kwon Do builds your self-esteem, improves your focus, develops a positive attitude, patience, and helps your stress management. There are no mystical secrets to martial arts.  All it requires is a commitment and dedication.  As Grandmaster Hee Il Cho, the founder of AIMAA, states “View your training as one drop of water hitting a rock over time.  That one drop of water will penetrate the hardest rock or stone.” Consistency, hard work and old school work ethics are your building blocks to success.  If you are interested in buying your belts and not earning them through hard work and years of dedication, it would be best if you went elsewhere to train.   At Phoenix Cho’s we believe that Tae Kwon Do has something to offer everyone.  Young or old, male or female or with special requirements, with proper instruction everyone can participate and benefit. We offer to all our students a straight forward, no-nonsense approach to achieving your martial arts goals.  There are no gimmicks or sales pitches.  We are from the old school where what you put into something is what you will get out of it.  We do not promise that the training will be easy; to the contrary, it will be challenging and will push you to develop a non-quitting spirit that will enable you to excel in any aspect of your daily life.  If you are willing to make a commitment and you do your best, our teaching methods are guaranteed.  There are no short cuts to learning martial arts, as anything of value takes time.  Learning the martial arts is no different.  Belts are earned, not given. Our Mission is to provide our students with the necessary skills to defend themselves and build self-confidence so as not to be a victim.  We emphasize the basics of Tae Kwon Do and make sure that our students are well prepared to advance to the next level.  In order to provide our students with quality instruction, we maintain a high instructor to student ratio. Our Primary Concern is the individual success of each one of our students.  Our programs are set to ensure you a positive group experience without ever losing sight, that your individual progress is always paramount.  You will be able to work at your own pace and to your own abilities, closely guided by experienced and highly qualified instructors.
